 The Antichrist Revealed

“Even in the darkest hour, your faith can endure.”

The 13 Characteristics of the Antichrist

Introduction

📖 Daniel 7:25

“He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.”

The Bible warns that in the final days of history, the stage will be set for Satan to send his appointed man — the Antichrist. He will be the ultimate deceiver, combining political genius, military strength, and religious control, leading the world into rebellion against God before the return of Christ.

1. Origin in the Revived Roman Empire

📖 Daniel 9:26

  • The Antichrist arises from the remnants of the Roman Empire, reconstituted in the end-times. Daniel says the Antichrist (the “ruler who will come”) will arise from the “people” who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.

  • Historically, Rome was never fully destroyed — it fragmented, and its spirit of law, government, and conquest continues.

  • Prophetically, the Antichrist will emerge from this revived structure in Europe.

2. Symbolized in Daniel’s Vision (Ten Toes)

📖 Daniel 2:41–43

  • The “ten toes” of the image in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream represent the final coalition of nations from the Roman Empire.

  • They are partly strong (iron) and partly weak (clay), symbolizing a fragile unity.

  • Out of this unstable confederation, the Antichrist rises.

3. The Treaty of Rome — A Prophetic Beginning

  • On March 25, 1957, six European nations signed the Treaty of Rome, forming the European Economic Community.

  • This later evolved into the European Union, often seen as the embryo of the revived Roman Empire.

  • Though not yet complete, it provides the platform for a future leader to emerge.

4. Global Crisis as Preparation

  • The COVID-19 pandemic (2019–2020) triggered worldwide instability, accelerating global dependence, economic shifts, and digital control.

  • Out of such crises, world leaders call for a “Great Reset” — a fertile environment for the Antichrist to step into global leadership.

5. His Rise to Power Before the Tribulation

  • The Antichrist’s political career likely begins quietly before the Tribulation, during the Church Age.

  • This explains how, once the Tribulation begins, he is already in a position of influence and authority.

  • The world will admire his apparent ability to solve impossible problems.

6. Revealed with the First Seal

📖 Revelation 6:1–2

  • At the opening of the First Seal, the Antichrist is revealed symbolically as a rider on a white horse.

  • He comes with a bow but no arrows — conquering through diplomacy, not initial war.

  • This begins his open rise to global dominance.

7. Covenant with Israel

📖 Daniel 9:27

  • His political peak comes when he secures a covenant with Israel and “many nations.”

  • This false peace treaty marks the start of the seven-year Tribulation.

  • Israel, seeking security, accepts his leadership — but it is a deception.

8. A New Religious System

📖 2 Thessalonians 2:4

  • The Antichrist introduces a new spiritual order, opposing all existing religions.

  • With satanic power, he performs miracles, signs, and wonders to deceive the nations.

  • His aim: to replace all worship with worship of himself.

9. Claiming to Be God

📖 2 Thessalonians 2:3–10

  • His ultimate scheme is not merely political, but spiritual rebellion.

  • He will sit in the Temple of God, proclaiming himself as God.

  • This is the height of blasphemy and deception, leading multitudes astray.

10. Threefold Domination

  • Politically: He confirms treaties and controls global governance (Daniel 9:27).

  • Militarily: He overcomes rival nations (Daniel 11:40–45).

  • Religiously: He rules the false spiritual system of the end-times (Revelation 17:3–7).
👉 The Antichrist unites these three arenas like no leader in history.

11. Alliance with Ten Kings

📖 Revelation 17:12–13

  • He joins with ten kings, forming a global empire.

  • Together, they destroy the Harlot (false religious system) to consolidate power.

  • This ushers in the final stage of world domination.

12. Death and Resurrection

📖 Revelation 13:3–4

  • The Antichrist will suffer a mortal wound to the head.

  • Miraculously healed (or appearing to resurrect), he astonishes the world.

  • From this moment, global worship of him as a false god explodes.

13. The Abomination of Desolation

📖 Matthew 24:15; Daniel 11:31

  • At the midpoint of the Tribulation, he breaks the covenant with Israel.

  • He enters the rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem, demanding worship as God.

  • This act — the Abomination of Desolation — triggers the Great Tribulation, the final 3½ years of unprecedented suffering.

Conclusion

The Antichrist is not a vague idea or symbol — he is a coming world ruler, foretold in Scripture with chilling precision. He will arise from the revived Roman Empire, gain power through politics and deception, unite religion under himself, and ultimately declare himself as God.

Israel is the prophetic clock:

  • The covenant with Israel begins the 7 years of tribulation.

  • The breaking of the covenant (3.5 years) marks the Great Tribulation.

  • His reign ends with the visible return of Christ, who will destroy him with the breath of His mouth (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

The Church must remain discerning, rooted in the Word, and ready for the appearing of the true Christ, not deceived by the counterfeit.

Why do we say the Antichrist comes out
of the Revived Roman Empire?

1. Daniel 9:26–27

“…the people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven’…”

  • The “people” who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D. were the Romans.

  • Daniel says the Antichrist (the “ruler who will come”) will arise from those same people.

  • This directly ties the Antichrist’s origin to the Roman world.

2. Daniel 2 — The Image of the Four Kingdoms

  • Nebuchadnezzar’s statue (gold, silver, bronze, iron, and iron+clay).

  • The legs of iron = Rome, the fourth kingdom (Daniel 2:40).

  • The ten toes (iron mixed with clay) = a divided, fragile revival of Rome in the last days.

  • Out of these ten arises a final ruler who will be destroyed only when the stone (Christ) smashes the image (Daniel 2:44–45).

3. Daniel 7 — The Fourth Beast

“It had ten horns… another horn, a little one, came up among them…” (Daniel 7:7–8)

  • The fourth beast = Rome (ferocious, iron teeth).

  • The ten horns = a final tenfold confederation (Revived Roman Empire).

  • The “little horn” = the Antichrist who arises from among them, subdues three, and dominates the rest.

4. Revelation 17:9–13

“The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits… The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast.”

  • Rome was famously called the “city on seven hills.”

  • John sees the final beast (Antichrist) connected with these kings, continuing the Roman imagery.

  • The Antichrist rules in alliance with them, fulfilling Daniel’s vision.

🔑 Reasoning Summary

  • Daniel 9:26 ties the Antichrist to the Romans.

  • Daniel 2 shows the legs of iron (Rome) and the final ten toes.

  • Daniel 7 describes the fourth beast (Rome) and the little horn rising from its horns.

  • Revelation 17 connects the beast and kings to Rome’s legacy.

👉 Therefore, the Antichrist’s origin in the Revived Roman Empire is not speculation, but a conclusion from multiple prophetic witnesses.
